Initiation - Tommy Emmanuel
May 2nd 2008 02:06
Tommy dedicated this track to the Aboriginal community - and it is very unique in its style and composition. I can assure you that all the sounds created are made from only Tommy's guitar.
He uses a repeat pedal and reverb which gives it a very strong tone - it creates an atmosphere similar to being inside a cave and echoing out.
Using harmonics, drumming techniques and playing back on himself he creates a very unique and complex tone.
I was blown away the first time I saw him perform it, he has created sounds on his guitar I did not know existed. This is why we listen and play music, to create new sound, to challenge what is possible, and as long as guitarists continue to push the envelope there is no limit to what can be achieved.
Tommy says this song is about a journey, I just wonder how he first created it...
